Devin Gillis is a visual storyteller working across filmmaking, photography, and creative direction. She spent five years studying filmmaking with an emphasis on creative writing, earning degrees from Barrett, the Honors College at ASU, and Vancouver Film School.
Most recently she worked as director's assistant on Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and before that as a Production Associate at Sepia Films and a producer's assistant on film and television streaming on Disney+, Netflix, Crave/HBO, and Amazon Prime.
In Vancouver, BC, Devin co-founded Fourth Floor Film, an independent production company behind a run of
award-winning shorts. The newest, Flight Risk, which she wrote, directed, produced, and styled, is now on the festival circuit. She also produced and coordinated The Indie League, an all-star, sold-out, sports-themed short film showcase returning in 2027.
These days, Devin freelances as a creative director, web designer, and photographer for Duckface Studios, develops new writing projects, and is building Pretty Penny Cinema, digitally for now and, hopefully soon, physically. Next up is pre-production to complete the web series Leonard, Lucy, and the Road to Fame. The pilot releases in early 2027, with the rest of the episodes to follow.

When asked what she wanted to be, four-year-old Devin skipped princesses and superheroes and answered: writer. Growing up, she added producing, directing, styling, and photography, never staying in one lane. Those overlapping passions fuel colorful, visually striking, offbeat work. Reluctantly born in the USA, she chased other cultures, living across the U.S., South Africa, Spain, and Canada, shaping the way she sees and tells stories.
Somewhere living out of a suitcase. Home base bounces between Vancouver, BC and Scottsdale, Arizona, which means she is either drenched or melting at any given moment. Lately she has been turning up in LA and NYC. She travels for work happily, often, and with a genuinely unreasonable amount of camera gear.
An independent production company based in Vancouver, BC, co-founded by her, Brandon Stewart, and Ian Boyd, whom she met on the fourth floor of the Vancouver Film School writing campus. They make series, music videos, and a slate of award-winning short films with 30,000+ views on YouTube.
Too many titles is usually a red flag, but Devin has never been particularly interested in where one discipline ends and another begins. For better or worse, she spent her formative years on Tumblr, where you could build an entire identity out of the things you reblogged. Tumblr was as much about discovering your taste as constructing it. None of the references are uniquely yours. The combination is.
That instinct for putting things together carried into her work. Film, fashion, photography, and design. Each one changes how she approaches the next, giving her another perspective on the same story. And it turns out, combining things you love tends to make them better.
A short film becomes a sports-themed screening. Somehow, a production becomes a party. Putting things together has a way of bringing people together too, and that's always been part of the appeal. Devin likes making things, but she likes creating a world around them even more.
The project changes. The title she has on it might too. The through line is taste. Everyone can have the same reference. Not everyone arrives at the same idea. The difference is having enough range to see what else something could become, and a point of view strong enough to take it somewhere only she would.
